Students will get to explore Buckingham House with a range of hands-on activity stations where they can compare changes in household technologies and chores from the
past to present day. Activities include olden day washing, weighing on vintage scales and farm duties such as learning how to milk a pretend cow. 

Students will also participate in a school lesson in the Old Wanneroo Schoolhouse which includes writing on slate boards and learning some traditional heritage skills such as sewing.

This immersive experience brings history to life, giving students a glimpse of what life was like in the past in Wanneroo.

Please note: Adult/parent helpers are required to help with the activity stations around Buckingham House. Staff will be on hand to show helpers what they need to do and will be available to provide assistance. The damper activity has been removed due to new food health and safety regulations and issues with sourcing firewood. Please bring along students’ recess.

Enhance your students' visit by making use of our engaging curriculum-linked teacher resources, including dramatised film clips of being a student at the schoolhouse. We can provide sensory accommodations on site, and a visiting story and vocabulary list are also available.

Programs run Monday to Friday during term time.

  • 9:15 Arrival and orientation
  • 9:30 – 9:50 Intro and timeline
  • 9:50 – 11:00 4 x 15-minute rotation activities
  • 11:00 – 11:20 Recess & games
  • 11:20 – 12:00 2 x 20-minute rotation activities
  • 12:00- 12:15 Recap & students depart or option to stay for lunch until 12:45


Program cost per session (one session= minimum of 20 students, maximum of 35 students)

  • 20-24 students: $125.00
  • 25-29 students: $155.00
  • 30-35 students: $175.00
  • Adults are free of charge.

Please note, prices are subject to the City’s annual CPI adjustments.


We require a ratio of at least one adult to five students. Additional adult helpers are always welcome. Please note that we may ask the adult helpers to lead an activity station depending on volunteer numbers, instructions will be provided. 


We will confirm availability and the final cost within two business days on receipt of your booking form.
