The Connected to Boodja Noongar Museum in a Box features a wide range of hands-on resources and education materials focused on Noongar language, culture and heritage in the Mooro region of Whadjuk Country.

The resources include Noongar children's stories, artefact replicas: kylie (boomerang); wanna (digging stick), puppets and animal track stamps, waitj (emu) feathers and egg, yongka (kangaroo) skin, local plant leaves, bark, nuts and seeds; (replica) grinding stones and Noongar plant use guides, Noongar six seasons cards, mia mia hut model and a USB of additional resources. These resources are an appealing, tactile way to encourage discovery and engagement with Noongar language, culture and history for young children.

Educator's guides are also included featuring a range of cross-curricular activity ideas for using these resources to embed Noongar culture and perspectives in many subjects. Suited for early years to Year 2.

The value of museums in a box:

Historical objects have tremendous value as a starting point for historical investigation. The opportunity to handle and use physical objects stimulates curiosity and can add to first-hand knowledge about technology and the natural world. They can tell us a great deal about how people lived in the past and provide insights into how the past connects to how we live today. When guided effectively, this type of investigation can lead to critical thinking, hypothesizing and the development of key historical skills. An object investigation can be a rich source of wonder and provide new perspectives on the world around us.

As these resources are popular, we do ask that you only book one museum in a box at a time.
